Complete Dryer Duct System

Whether you’re having a problem with your current dryer duct, or you want to build a system that will prevent future issues, this is what’s needed for the most effective, complete dryer duct system possible.

  1. Get a booster fan. All concrete high rise buildings this is a must. Even some Townhouses, Low Rise buildings and house will benefit from having a booster fan. Clothes dryers are not powerful enough to work with long dryer ducts. This is where a booster fan is important, it adds the power to the air flow that the dryer lacks on it’s own.
  2. Automatic timer for the booster fan. The dryer booster fan should turn on automatically and then stay on after the dryer shuts off. Ideally the fan will stay on for 10-15 minutes after the dryer shuts off.
  3. A secondary lint box is an important addition and works well with a booster fan. The the purpose of the lint box is to keep the duct from getting clogged up with lint. It will also keep the booster fan clean of lint.
  4. Before getting a lint box and fan. It’s always best to have a clean and clear dryer duct. To do this, it’s important to have a through dryer duct cleaning done. I recommend Michael A. Smith Duct Cleaning “MAS Duct”
  5. How the dryer booster fan and lint box is installed is very important. You want it done in such a way that it makes duct cleaning as simple as possible for the duct cleaning technicians. Using a flexible duct with removable clamps make’s the Tech’s job easy. They a team of 2 Techs will often do 25+ dryer duct cleanings per day in a building; so making it easy to clean ensures that they can do a good job.
  6. Another aspect of the complete dryer duct system is the exterior of duct. A small gaped screen will quickly clog up with lint. So it’s best to go with a flapper or 1″ screen.
