These plastic booster fans are starting to fall apart. Recently I’ve seen a surge of severely broken booster fans. After about 10 years the plastic gets brittle and starts to crack. Eventually this will lead to the fan coming apart in pieces.

Here is the new booster fan installed to replace the old broken booster fan.
Plastic booster fans are especially prone to breaking when heavy things are hung from the plastic. Or screws are drilled into the plastic.
Not all dryer booster fans need to be replaced. Most of the time I can repair them. Unfortunately when left too long, the only option is replacement.
